OKCupid is a TOTALLY FREE online dating site. In fact, it is the only 100% free online dating site that I have found that is worth looking into at all. Even if you register with one of the paid sites, which in truth, I do recommend you do, you should register here at OKCupid and at least put up a profile. After all, since it really is free, you have nothing to lose but a little time.

Signing up to OKCupid.com is fast and easy! Unlike most other sites, where you initially sign up as a free standard member but are then only given limited access to the features of the site until you upgrade to a paid premium membership, with OKCupid you have complete access to the entire site right from the start. This means that you may view all the member profiles and all member photographs as well as contact the members by internal e-mail as a free member. There are a few other totally free dating sites, however OKCupid.com is the most popular free dating site we've come across.

OKCupid is also, actually, a very accurate site, employing a profile match technology that is built on some kind of complex mathematical algorithm that I cannot explain. Keep in mind though, for those things to work on ANY site, you have to be honest and know what you want in a date or relationship. OK Cupid is a totally free site, 100% free, no strings attached! If you are just getting started in the online dating world, then this is the place to start.

OKCupid.com is one of the most popular free online dating sites we've come across. Whilst we don't know exactly how many subscribed members it has, we can tell you that it has 1.7 million unique visitors a month and when we checked it out for the purposes of this review, there were around 4000 other members online from all over the world. Joining is fast and easy, and you can be logged on and searching for your perfect match having only answered the most basic questions about where you live, how old you are and nothing much else. Once you're logged on, you'll be given the opportunity to expand your profile by answering some questions about your personality, upload photos and take any of the 30,000 online tests that are on offer. As a free member to OKCupid, you'll be able to do all the things that most other dating sites require that you pay for, including viewing all the members' profiles, all their photographs, and even contacting members using the internal e-mail tool! There is literally nothing to pay for on OKCupid.com - it is a totally free dating service!

When you view another member's profile you will be able to select various tabs on their profile to view different information about them, including their profile basics, their journal, their pictures, any tests they have taken, and any comments that have been made about them by other members. The profile basics include a section where the member has given themselves various personality awards, ranging from "more kinky" to "more lawful" and everything inbetween. These cartoon-like icons allow you to see at a glance what type of personality the member has. This is an interesting feature that's quite unique to OKCupid.

OKCupid.com is humorously written and the online tests are so varied and amusing as to become quite addictive, however, like most dating sites, OKCupid.com is not without it's flaws. We found that despite a simple and logical layout, the site did take a little getting used to. Having reviewed many dating sites, we've become accustomed to various features having certain names. However, on OKCupid.com, these same features often had different names, which threw us a little at the start. For instance, most dating sites allow you to send a wink or a smile to another member, but on OKCupid it's called a woo, as in to woo someone. Many dating sites also allow you to see who's viewed your profile, typically under a heading imaginatively titled "Who's Viewed my Profile" or something similar, but on OKCupid.com, it's under "My Stalkers", which shows more imagination on the part of the authors, but it did take us a minute or two to figure out what that was. Also, we did have to do a bit of hunting about for the search box, which we eventually found under Matches - View Matches. But these points are just minor and once you know where everything is, you'll be fine. From a features point of view, OKCupid has most of the features you would expect of a dating site but not all - as far as we could tell there are no chat rooms on OKCupid.com, which is a major feature of many dating sites, and also there appears to be no online magazine, with useful features and articles on the dating scene, such as are to be found on many of our top-rated dating sites - see our top 10 list here. Having said all that, OKCupid.com is free, so we can't complain and neither can you! It seems to have a fairly large members' database, and a comprehensive search capability, allowing you to easily find potential matches in your local area. The feature that really makes OKCupid stand out from the crowd however is the number of online tests they have, ranging from the "Are you a good driver" test to the "Futurama character similarity" test. Some of the tests are also a bit rude for us to mention here! Did we also mention that OKCupid is totally free?!
